2016 Intermurals

The CrossFit Open is a worldwide CrossFit competition crowning the Fittest Man and Woman on Earth.  This year, there’s SCALED divisions!

Our goals at SPCF are to educate and inspire our athletes. Competition helps with the ‘inspire’ part: the pressure to perform pushes you to train harder; the social boost of dozens of your friends cheering for you will help you reach levels of performance you didn’t believe possible. Watching your teammates GO HARD is inspiring.

This year, we will bring the thrill of the CF Games to SPCF. We will deliver all the fun of competition without causing any anxiety attacks.  

Announcing the 2016 SPCF Intramural Open!

We will be putting together 5-6 teams to compete against one another each week (6 weeks in total). And you’re going to be on one of them.

Team Captains will be chosen this week and they will subsequently choose team names. I’ll be choosing “fun” captains, not necessarily our traditional top scorers. Everyone can, and should, participate in what will be a fantastic, fun time and great, supportive competition.

REGISTRATION
Register for the Intramural Open at games.crossfit.com. Choose Southpoint CrossFit as your Affiliate.

DRAFT
Coaches and top SPCF athletes will be ‘drafted’ onto an Intramural team on, or around, February 1st. We want to ensure even distribution of our most competitive athletes so that the competition will be fun and fair for everyone involved.

Following the draft, every other athlete at SPCF will be fair game to be recruited onto a team. Expect to be courted by one of our Team Captains to join their team – probably more than one. Pick the most fun team for you!

 

POINTS
+1 Point – Attendance: every member of a team that completes an Open workout at SPFD each week earns one point. This goes for Rx AND Scaled competitors!

+1 Point – Scoring: every member of a team that enters an Open workout score online each week earns one point. This goes for Rx AND Scaled competitors!

+2 Points – Top 3 Scaled: every male AND female member who places among the Top 3 at SPFD in that week’s Scaled workout gets an extra 2 points for their team.

+3 Points – Top 3 RX: every male AND female member who places among the Top 3 at SPFD in that week’s RX workout  gets an extra 3 points for their team.

+3 Points – Worldwide placing: every male AND female member who places among the Top 250 in the Mid-Atlantic Region in their age group/category gets an extra 3 points for their team.

+3 Points – Worldwide placing: every male AND female member who places among the Top 250 in the world in their age group/category gets an extra 3 points for their team.

+5 Points (team) – Spirit: The team with the most noise, show of pride, and PRESENCE each week will receive 5 bonus points as determined by Bea.

+5 Points (bonus) – 6th workout: see below.

WORKOUTS
In 2016, athletes competing in the Open will have four days to complete each workout. Our “official” competition days will be each Saturday during the Open from 9am – 11am. There will be five Open workouts in total AND we will have a BONUS event on the 6th Saturday.

16.3: March 12th
16.4: March 19th
16.5: March 26th
SPCF bonus: April 2nd

Athletes unable to attend the Saturday morning sessions may complete the week’s workout provided it is completed by the Monday deadline for submission and is witnessed by a certified Open Judge or SPFD Coach. 

 

PRIZES

We’ll have some random drawings each week for prizes! The top team will win a victory banner to be hung from the rafters, individual participant medals, and a team GRAND PRIZE. Details released soon!

Our focus for this event is on FUN. We want participation because it will make you fitter, happier, and a bigger part of the SPCF Community!
